The church of Surb Astvatzatzin (Holy Virgin) was constructed by Catholicos Simeon I in 1767. (Vagharshapat, Armavir district). Later, in 1986, Catholicos Vazgen I attached a three-story bell-tower to it.
Since 1996 Surb Astvatzatzin church has been the residence of the head of Armavir diocese.
