On the left bank of River Hrazdan from the times of early Christianity was functioning a monastery. The Church of Surb Sargis was constructed in 1450. In 1679 the whole monastery complex was completely destroyed as a result of an earthquake. Within the board of Catholicos Nahapet Yedesiatsi (1691-1705) the church Surb Sargis was constructed anew. The present building of the church has been constructed in 1835-1842. In 1972-1976 the interior has been completely restored, on the western side the gallery for chorus was constructed.
In year 2000, the construction of the bell-tower had been finished.
